DIFFERENT WHY?
Pierce the fog of mediocre content with purposely unique video and photo production. Lightbulb Media is a concept through delivery video production company. Visionary enough to craft unique concepts, experienced enough to execute them. We also have extensive landscape, portrait, action and editorial photography capability.
Lightbulb Media offers nationwide video production and photography. Located in beautiful Grand Junction, CO, we specialize in concept-through-delivery projects for companies looking to increase impact on their audience.
We like to start with our client’s vision for their videography project. We feel it’s more important than anything else to know what our clients are after with the way they want their audience to feel. Video is an incredible tool. We have the ability to alter a person’s emotional state, and tie that emotion to an idea, concept, event, or product. The combination of sound, light, color, movement, and human interaction can touch a person’s soul.
Part of the reason we started Lightbulb Media was because our talents lie in finding those rare, incredible moments in life, and capturing them on camera. Every part of a scene contributes to what the scene is ultimately “about.” It’s our job to find the small details that can touch an audience, and give access to our clients to share their company’s message with that audience. Videography and video production is a passion of ours that we want to share with you.
Of course, there are many technical aspects and logistical details behind the scenes to make a truly magical moment on film come to life. Our goal, for one thing, is to make the magic happen – capturing the desired emotions – while keeping the project on budget. We understand that every video created exists in a world of practical limitations. But we always want our clients to feel that they’re going to get their vision first. We may just have to tweak how we do that based on what’s possible.
As far as the technical details of video production, we offer the following services:
Video Consultation
Concept Development and Writing
Directing
Producing
Cinematography
Editing
Color Correction and Grading
The first real step to any film production project is to find out exactly what our clients are after. We both find a lot of joy and take our role very seriously in the initial consultation process. We want to know our clients’ vision – the mood, emotion, and impact they want to create in their audience. This is also the step where we work with clients to establish their budget and timeframe. It’s also very useful to us when our clients can direct us towards other videos, or research and reference material. It’s always helpful to us to have additional material to use in developing our own concepts about the project and making sure we’re on the same page with our clients.
Companies hire videography professionals because we make the scene come alive. It’s more than just capturing images on a camera. It’s about why those images are captured. As professionals, we create life on screen with a combination of custom-made scripts and storytelling techniques.
The concept development stage can also involve a back-and-forth between us and our client to make sure we have things right. It’s a combination of writing a basic script to use, which involves required locations, products, lighting, actors, and voiceovers.
We help our clients fully prepare for everything they will need to for their video’s creation. Videography is our business! And working with us makes the process very easy for everyone involved.
Directing is a very unique role in the process of video production. The director’s job is to make sure the client’s vision becomes reality. This is where drama and art come to the forefront. The director uses the material created in concept development and writing to create visceral, dynamic emotion.
The director is in charge of actors, video crew, creative interpretation, production design – and virtually all aspects of the set.
At Lightbulb Media, we love stepping into the role of directing. Since our biggest goal is to help our clients communicate an emotion and vision to their audience, we feel the directing aspect gives us a lot of ability to create something meaningful on-screen. It’s a fulfilling role for us to step into, and a role we can provide with expert precision and artistic ability.
Video production is the broad umbrella of creating something we can all seen on-screen. It’s calling locations, setting up schedules and acquiring props. Basically, it’s all the logistical decisions that drive video production companies/ film production companies.
For anyone who’s never been on-set, it can be a bit surprising seeing or hearing about everything that goes into video production. To give an idea, here’s a short list of the basic equipment required for professional video production companies to have on-hand:
Video camera (no surprise here)
Various lenses
Spare batteries
Flash cards/ external memory
Tripod and/ or shoulder mount rig
Gimbal for steady moving shots
Lighting sets and lighting reflectors
Microphones and cables
Headphones and portable audio recorders
Many, many more things to make our client’s visions come to crystal clear reality for their audience
Cinematography encompasses the lighting and camera decisions made on-set, including choice of cameras, lenses, angles, depth, color, and so on. We work to find the correct tone and style of light for each project, to ignite the proper emotions in your audience.
Post-production for videos also takes a lot of skill. The director sometimes gets all the credit for creating a videography project, but the editor really has almost as much power. We often feel that it’s important, even if we’re only doing video editing work, to be on-set. The editor takes the director’s work and creates something finalized, after all, so we want to make sure we’re seeing the director’s artistic vision as well.
Editing is certainly a less glamorous process than directing on-set. But, when it comes to video production, editing is vital. A good edit can make for a brilliant video.
Part of the video editing and post-production process, color correction, or “color grading,” allows us to balance a video’s look and feel. “Raw” footage used directly from production on-set tends to be under-saturated, or essentially, flat and boring. In order to look right for on-screen use, color correction is almost always a must-have editing step.
